The writer who sent a letter to Kristine Kathryn Rusch recently probably thought she'd be excited over the news he shared.
On the contrary, his letter depressed her.
It turns out a literary agent had approached him about selling movie rights to his indie-published books, and the author had accepted with alacrity.
Rusch hasn't seen the deal to agree or disagree that it's the best deal ever.
But she has seen the trend of agents realizing there's little to no money in traditional publishing anymore — and, as a consequence, moving to self-publishing, where there is money.
Rusch explains why indie authors should beware of these agents, in greater detail, in her latest blog post.
