If your practice is already to avoid the post-publication reviews, we certainly aren't going to try to talk you out of it.

But even if that is your approach, we will try to persuade you to read a post from author and audiobook narrator Julia Whelan on how to process negative comments in reviews and on social media.

That's because her first piece of advice — "no book is universally beloved so stop trying to write one that is" — doesn't require that you read reviews in order for it to feel applicable.
