A well-developed character will linger with your readers long after they close the book.

It's an accomplishment that takes no small amount of work, but fortunately, there's also no shortage of advice on the matter.

Writer's Digest recently featured author Claire Alexander's tips for writing a compelling introvert (who isn't a stereotype), while Jane Friedman hosted story and writing consultant Neil Chase, who described how to write a complex villain whom readers will love to hate.
