Selling direct to readers isn't a new idea.

But, says Kristine Kathryn Rusch, it became much more popular and common during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

And 2022, in her opinion, was the year that working directly with readers — and receiving that income directly — enjoyed a major change in perception.

Rusch talks about how crowd-funding, direct sales, and fan support for authors became so hot in 2022 and why she hopes (and expects) that trend to continue in her most recent year-in-review blog post.
