David Gaughran can always be counted upon to raise a good point, but here’s an especially savvy insight: It’s easier to keep your readers than find new ones.

How do you do that, besides continuing to write books? Email marketing — and don’t groan.

Email marketing doesn’t have to be obnoxious or sleazy. It also doesn’t have to be — and in fact shouldn’t be — confined to just new releases.

(Another witty observation: That’s essentially like showing up just to ask for money.)

Gaughran, of course, has plenty of more specific details to help you get started, versus a lecture from upon high, that you can read on his blog.
