Joanna Penn’s latest expert interview is another one likely to intrigue even those not writing crime thrillers.

Jerri Williams, a retired FBI special agent who’s now a crime writer and true-crime podcaster, appeared on Penn’s show to discuss what storytellers should know about the agency — what its staffers are like, how they’re trained, what they actually do, and (perhaps most importantly) where and when it has jurisdiction.

Check out the interview on The Creative Penn, where you’ll find a link to audio as well as a transcript; if you like what you see there, note that Williams has a book titled FBI Myths and Misconceptions: A Manual for Armchair Detectives.
