The word "influencer" probably brings to mind an image of someone much younger than you, using a tech platform that you're at best competent in, and raking in money.

That description may fit some influencers, but certainly not all of them — not even close.

Dan Parsons and Orna Ross of the Alliance of Independent Authors point out that a print media book critic is just as much an influencer as are the BookTok creators (though of course they serve, um, different markets).

And not every single one will expect a hefty payment, either.
