Two companies that indie authors are likely to be using have announced or enacted previously announced changes of note.

First: Amazon told The Authors Guild last week that it has officially updated its system to limit refunds for books that are partially read.

The change comes in response to complaints that some users are "gaming" the system by returning books that they've read.

Second: Now that Smashwords and Draft2Digital are under one business roof, tools from the former have been rolling out to authors in the latter.

This year, Draft2Digital authors can watch for access to the coupon manager and presale tools, plus author interviews.

Draft2Digital has a preview of these Smashwords features on its website.
