Today's marketing advice comes in two varieties: specific, actionable activities and mindset shifts.
In the former category, we have Penny Sansevieri's Book Marketing & Author Success podcast, which did a recent episode on what a soft launch is and why writers should do it.
And in the latter category, we have Kris Rusch's latest musings on the shift in the creative world — movies, music, and, yes, literature — away from a handful of broadly recognized stars.
So what should writers do, now that the era of "big-name" status is over? Rusch says the first step is to change their mindset and accept the fact that we're in the age of niche marketing.
